ZIRAKPUR,
SEPTEMBER 27:
The
widening work of Zirakpur-Patiala
Highway would be started from January 2014. This
was disclosed by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal while inaugurating
a sewerage treatment plant at Singhpura village here today.
The
sewerage treatment plant has been set up at Singhpura village and around Rs 15
crore (approx) has been spent on it.
However,
it was in controversies for long time as the MC failed to get the land for it.
It was only finalizsed after the efforts of Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma, the MC
handed over the land to sewerage and water supply board in September 2011.
Addressing
the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal announced that
Zirakpur would be developed as next IT Hub of the country and a separate
Electronic Industrial Cluster would also be created here.
Badal
said that Mohali would be developed as one of the model district in the state,
where IT and Electronics hubs would be set up. He said a total 600 acres land
has been identified, where IT Hub would be established. He said that these
initiatives of Punjab Government would fetch new investments in future besides
securing employability for youth. Badal said that with the setting up of IT Hub
at Zirakpur more than 1.5 lakh job opportunities would be there.
He
said the contract of road widening would be allotted to new contractor after
the completion of the process.
Badal
said that Punjab has fixed a target of Rs. 10
lakh crore investments in coming years. He said that under this target, a
delegation of state government led by him would visit different industrial
capitals of country to educate and make aware the industrial giants about the
attractive industrial policy launched by state government. He said that the
delegation would leave for Bengaluru to organize a road show, where hundreds of
industrial giants would participate.
Sukhbir
Badal said that Zirakpur will get sub-tehsil status after getting nod from
cabinet, for this work has started. The bus terminal would be opened for public
soon, he added. The deputy CM said the Punjab would
be power surplus by end of this year.
Criticising
congress led UPA Government at center, Badal said time has come to wipe out
worlds’ most corrupt Congress led UPA Government, which was leading by a ‘weak’
Prime Minister. He said that UPA has badly failed on all fronts, which should
be thrown out of power in the interests of country. He asked the electorates to
elect Narendra Modi to save the country from corruption, scams etc.

akali leaders were present at the occasion.
